Greece-Bulgaria: European Intercultural Dialogue through SPA Tourism

During April, 30 young people of Xanthi had the chance to participate in an intercultural dialogue through spa tourism. The project that was co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union under Key Action 1, was implemented by NGO Globalis and AROGI MAKE was a partner. In total, 60 young people aged 18 to 30 from Bulgaria and Greece participated in the project.

During the project, through training, discussions and experiential workshops with active, interactive and situational methods of non-formal education, the participants had the chance to upgrade the theoretical knowledge, skills and competencies in the field of tourism and in particular – SPA tourism, and discover opportunities to enhance its competitive advantages in both countries.

When returned, the participants communicated with friends and family the experience that they lived to the fullest and expressed enthusiastically the sense of satisfaction they gained through participating in an intercultural dialogue that contributed to the inclusion of young people to European values, their effective integration into united European society and their development as active participants in the European labor market.

The youth activities were aiming at:

-Raising the knowledge, skills, and competencies of young people about the specifics of SPA tourism.

-Improving and expanding the professional competencies of the participants for the development of specialized SPA products.

-Increasing the motivation of young people to actively participate in non-formal learning and to use the opportunities for active development of knowledge and skills or lifelong learning.

-Enhancing the language training of participants to the level of self-use in English, which was the main working language during the exchange.

-Expanding the knowledge of young people in the field of tourism-specific terminology.

-Mediation of the cultural dialogue.
